Solium Infernum and the Mac

I’ve installed and played Vic Davis’s Solium Infernum on (of course) Boot Camp and VMware Fusion. A poster on the Cryptic Comet forums said he had success with SI under CrossOver.

World of Goo

World of Goo has been causing a bit of storm recently. It’s a cross between Enigmo (get the balls in a bucket) and an upward building Lemmings, with a bit of Tim Burton mysterio-weirdness thrown in. If you’re throughly confused by that horrendous description, take a look here. It’s very clever, very nice looking and completely unique.

I was a little bit impatient and decided to give World of Goo a download. The good news is that it works perfectly via CrossOver for Mac. Score!

I’ll save a review for when the Mac version is released, but if you just can’t wait to explore to goo filled lands full of bizarre balancing acts and gravity defying towers, grab yourself a copy when it’s released tomorrow and play away!

CrossOver for Mac

I had a chat with Jon Parshall, Chief Operating Officer of CodeWeavers, about their marvelous product CrossOver for Mac. Based on Wine, CrossOver allows Windows applications (including games) to run under Mac and Linux without Windows. In contrast to solutions like VMWare and Parallels that use an installed, genuine version of Windows, CrossOver is an implementation of the technologies in Windows. CrossOver doesn’t load a second operating system alongside your current operating system, just what is needed to make a program work.
