If there’s one thing indie developers know how to do, it’s spread holiday cheer. Broken Rules has decided to follow Amanita Design’s act of generosity and offer their hit platformer And Yet It Moves for $5 this holiday season! Although I’ve said it before, you have officially run out of reasons to avoid this game. Try out the demo and see for yourself why I find AYIM to be one of the best games of the year. If you’ve got the money to spend, it’s a no-brainer.
The sale ends Dec. 31, so be sure to get it while it lasts. Also be on the lookout for AYIM on the Wii Marketplace in the first quarter of 2010. Now I finally have an excuse to purchase a Wii. Take that, Wii Fit!
Congratulations surviving the summer games drought! I barely made it through with only the Marathon series and a list of release dates for the winter to console me. Fortunately karma is alive and well in the gaming industry because our reward for such an awful summer is a holiday smorgasbord packed with highly-anticipated titles. However don’t let the banquet distract you from some excellent independent hits quietly being released. One such title is Machinarium, an ingenious game that provides AAA quality on an indie’s budget.

The independent gaming community has been flourishing recently thanks to hit titles like World of Goo, And Yet It Moves, and Windosill. Indie developers have even included Mac gamers in their fun by releasing the majority of these titles for us as well (take that EA). However we’ve been missing out on what many consider to be the indie crown jewel, Braid. Well after patiently waiting, Braid is now available for Mac gamers to enjoy. All I can say is that it was well worth the wait.
