Stay tuned

Like many of you I’m waiting for Apple to refresh their desktops.

In the long winter of no-Mac, very handy is the MacRumors Buyers Guide which lists the days since an update for each particular Mac. As a Mac can be seen a thing and not just a collection of components, it’s usually worthwhile to try and buy when they are updated to get the best value for money. Recently, updates have been few and far between for our good ol’ desktop Macs. The Mac Pro is 484 days since an update. Yikes!

Tired of the wait I emailed Steve Jobs. To my surprise I received a reply:

Stay tuned. Steve’s ambivalent comment will both sooth and annoy those waiting for a refresh: Apple haven’t given up on Macs, you’ll see some soon.

Is Steve’s comment enough for you or is the Dark Side calling?

Cool you got a reply. :)
I wonder how far away ”stay tuned” means?
Can’t be more than a month, can it?

We need several new Mac Pro’s at the retouch department at work – I’ve got the budget to buy 20 of them.

Personally I’m already over at the dark side…

Looks like drivers for the ATI HD5000 and nVidia GTX400 series are already showing up in newer OS X builds so things are definitely in motion.
