Unreal Tournament III for Mac: no news is good news

Breaking news this fine evening: Unreal Tournament III for Mac is still in development!

MacSoft confirmed that Unreal Tournament III is still in development for the Mac, is in testing, but a release date can’t be shared just yet.

As they say, no news is good news, good things come to those that wait, blarhhh…

  • This is ridiculous! HOW could testing take this long. If they really wanted to it could be released in a month. It’s called focus. I have a good feeling they have been slacking here.

  • Testing also includes bug fixing, which can be a long and painful process.

  • C`mon the game have a 2 years delay, why is taking so long???

  • 3 months is a reasonable delay, 6 months with really bad bugs.
Two years is full development on a game, not a delay. Did they start from scratch due to intel-based Macs? If so, wasn’t it easier to port the code from the PC version based on intel-based processors - not the same, but closer than PPC.

Not sure why they are even talking about it anymore, by the time it’s done it will be so outdated… it’s just silly.

OTOH, if they pull an MS and leapfrog, like we do with Office, then maybe UT4 comes out for Mac first?

  • What a joke, who wants it any more, after a 3yr wait.

  • just read a thread on Epic’s forums and they had at the time of the post a whopping 68 people playing.

somehow, regardless of how much we cry and complain for the lack of support the reality is that UT isn’t important to Epic if there aren’t people playing it.

further evidence: UT IV won’t be release for ’several years’ as Epic works on other (money-making) initiatives.

I’m going to buy me a new iMac and install Windows 7 on it and UT3 Black just to get it out of my system.
